We ordered Penelope's Cruise (Rs 170) and Border Crossers' Mix (Rs 170) juices and Frida Says Khalo (Rs 250) salad. Penelope offered a fresh pineapple, apple and orange mix and Border Crossers' combined pomegranate, watermelon and mint. Both served as a refreshing start with our avocado, peppers, beans and many other veggies laden salad.

Uba Tuba offers cold-pressed juices

Next in line were Pibil Shredded Chicken Torta (Rs 260; left, in pic) and Creamy Roasted Zucchini Quesadilla (Rs 210). There's a choice between three kinds of salsa sauce (based on the spice level) and regular and wholewheat breads. Both dishes left our fingers messy as they were dripping with sauces. No complaints though, as we licked our fingers off. The spicy shredded chicken stuffed in the bun is a value-for money meal that offers a great balance of meat, flavour and cheese. The quesadilla was equally satisfying with its generous dose of cheese and mayo. The two salsa sauces served on the side, had a good kick but were watery and hardly different.

Since we had already wiped off our juices, and needed a drink to water down our meal, we called for a Machete Mania (Rs 180) juice and Strawberry Banana Yoghurt smoothie (Rs 180). The green juice with its healthy and tasty apple, spinach and fennel mix comforted our mind that was still smarting from the attack of cheese and sauce. The smoothie was a heavy drink and we couldn't finish it after the tummy-bursting meal. If you are tired of tucking into comfort Chinese food in Bandra, walk into Uba Tuba for some low-on-grease, high-on-flavour fresh fare.
