“Bauls were basically vagabonds, identified by their distinctive dressing style. They travelled from one place to another, singing songs on birth, sexuality, secularism, cycle of life, among other things. I will be weaving a story around their poems,” explains Wriddh.

A part of the music circuit of Kolkata since 2005, the singer has been a core member of bands like Kryptic, Dump Terminal, Wriddh & Friends and his most recent project, The Journo Trio (based in Chennai). While his influences span Folk Rock, Alternative, Classic Rock and World Music, for this performance, he will be singing in his mother tongue, Bengali.

“The narrative will be in English, so that the people in this city can connect to the music. I will also be discussing the influential Lalan Fakir, who paved the way for Baul Music. His poetry was very much ahead of his times and I will be highlighting that in my performance,” elaborates Wriddh.
