Madheghat
With the monsoon setting in, the Sahyadris change colour and turn to a green haven. Hit any road going out of the city and within 20 minutes, you will find yourself in paradise. Lush green forest patches, waterfalls, rice fields and foggy and misty ghats surround you. This time, leave the usual hotspots and instead head to Madheghat with the Western Routes for a tour.

Situated about 850 m above sea level, and around 70 km south west of Pune, Madheghat is a great weekend destination during monsoon
Shruti Karkhedkar, one of the members of Western Routes, says, “It is a less explored place compared to other ghats near the city. So, it is greener and clean. It has a very beautiful view as there are forts surrounding it. The drive is also beautiful and interesting.”

Madheghat is located 70 km south west of Pune, bordering Raigad district. It is about 850 m above sea level and situated in dense forests behind Torna Fort. This unknown gem is getting popular by the day thanks to its superb views of the valley and a waterfall which drops into the Shivthar river in Konkan.

Jayesh Paranjape, founder of Western Routes, states, “From the ghat, one can witness the beauty of Konkan. We will be almost 20 people who will be going in here. The best attraction for this trip is a beautiful waterfall. People from all age groups, from kids to senior citizens, can enjoy this trip.”
