For a band that came up with their name just two minutes before their first show, Medusa has come a long way from when they started out six years ago. The Mumbai-based electronic/alternative rock band will be casting their music charm on Bangaloreans today.

Having performed in namma city just once before, last year, the band says that they had a wonderful outing in our music loving city. Hoping to stir the same magic with their beats this time around too, the band will be playing some of their best songs from their first album, due to be released in September this year. The band, comprising Raxit Tewari (vocals), Rahul Nadkarni (lead guitars), Siddharth Shah (bass guitar) and Harsh Karangale (Drums) will be playing their popular songs I Become I, Hilltop, Birdcatcher and Clone.

Sharing some wild stories from their initial days as a band and talking about interesting experiences from their gigs across the world, the band discusses their gig in town and their upcoming album. "Our first experience in Bangalore was awesome and the crowd really loved our songs. Our music is quite urban and since we have heard that the city is open to all genres, we are hoping this gig will be great," says Raxit.

While most college bands get disbanded in their first two years, Medusa has been going strong for six years now and the band have even had some international experiences. Medusa was one of four bands in India that was selected to be part of Soundpad, a project organised by the British Council. The band recorded two tracks with legendary producer John Leckie at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. Two years back, the band performed at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton.

Like many other bands, the name of this band too brings about a quirky twist to their music. Spilling the beans on the band name, Siddharth says, "Our first show was at the Raspberry Rhinoceros at Juhu and just before going on stage, we decided on this name. It was a really spontaneous decision. Funnily enough, we did not think about this name before we become really popular. The name seemed to strike a chord with the crowd, just like our music did, so we stuck to it."

The band's biggest jam room joke that still gets them rolling on the floor is an incident that took place in Nagaland. "We were performing at the Hornbill Festival at Nagaland and head bangers from all over North East had gathered there. It was a huge concert and after we finished performing, one of our fans came up to us to tell us that he would engrave our name in his heart forever. It is something we think of all the time and we just can't stop giggling about it," says Rahul.

On a more serious note, Harsh adds, "We believe in constantly experimenting with our music and it works for us since we have quite a similar taste in music. We are all influenced by each others' music and we have touched base with our fans in Bangalore and hope to create some Medusa magic for them today." The band also intends to play a Radiohead cover for the crowd along with their popular tracks. So, if you are in the mood for some electronic rock, catch Medusa live tonight.
