Couturier, actor, and an entrepreneur with a line of beauty products—you’d think that’s one role too many. Not for Masaba Gupta. She is now turning producer with a yet-untitled reality show revolving around Indian weddings. Having created bridal collections as a designer, she wanted to delve deeper into the “exciting market” of Indian weddings, and a show seemed the perfect route. “A lot has been said around weddings in India, but I don’t think we’ve scraped much beyond the surface. It’s an exciting topic because now you have flamboyant weddings, but you also have intimate ones. So, the larger reason for co-producing this was to tell an India-proud story,” she shares.
  
The reality series, co-produced by Lucifer Circus, will take a look at diverse weddings in all their jubilation and glory. Gupta says she wants to focus not only on the bride and groom, but also on the families. “My experience in dressing not just brides and grooms has [shown me] that families play such a big role. We want to tell stories from a witty lens about people who are behind the scenes—be it the bride’s mother, or the groom’s sister, the aunt, uncle, and the couple. We also want to explore court weddings, shaadis that happen on a minimal budget, and those with a budget that goes through the roof.”

Asked if she will have a recurring role in the show, Gupta says, “I never say never. I always keep my mind open to anything exciting. However, I have a full life with the two brands that I run. Acting is a cherry on the cake, it’s my passion. This is my first stint as a co-producer. I am eager to see how 
it proceeds.”
