Gravitating towards actioners after Shershaah, Sidharth says hijack thriller Yodha has the potential to become a franchise
A still from the film
Sidharth Malhotra has had his share of action films, from Brothers (2015) to Marjaavaan (2019). But it was the highly acclaimed Shershaah (2021) that pushed him further into the genre. The actor will soon be seen deep-diving into the genre with Yodha, which marks Dharma Productions’ advent into the universe of big-budget actioners. While director duo Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha wrapped up the final schedule in Manali in September, they are currently giving finishing touches to the 2023 release.

The opportunity to perform elaborate stunts, coupled with the potential of a franchise, makes Yodha a win-win situation for Malhotra. The actor says, “Action is a genre that calls for a big scale and [makes for] a spectacle. The beauty of action is that you don’t enjoy it as much on the small screen; you like it king-size. Yodha is a thriller based on a hijack. If the character works, it will push us to build a franchise.” The hijack drama also features Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna in key roles.
