You could call it sheer coincidence that Ayan Mukerji's wisdom tooth started hurting just two weeks after his debut coming-of-age film released. And although Ayan's quite adamant that life hasn't changed at all, Wake Up Sid's success and the wisdom tooth extraction has perhaps left him wiser. All excited about leaving for a month-long vacation to Argentina and then US, he tells CS about his film journey:

1.Success story
Life remains the same. I mean, I still wait two hours in the traffic while going anywhere and the toothache was excruciating; how does it help things if my film is a hit? I'd say life has changed if I asked a big actor or cinematographer now to work in my next film and he replied, "Oh yes, I would love to. I absolutely loved your last film." Now that's success.

2.A bit lost
The film has taken almost two years of my life. But now I realise that I'm unable to fit back into my old life and friends and socialising. I promised myself that once WUS was over, I'd get back to all the things I missed out onu00a0- all the books, films and travelling. But I find myself a bit lost now that I am actually free to do all that.

3.Family feedback
My family is very relieved. I was a bit of a worry to them. I never applied myself in school and dropped out of college. I once forgot to fill my HSC exam form! But they always had conventional aspirations for me. My mum has religiously cut out all the articles written on me and kept them carefully while my dad has recorded all my TV interviews. I suppose the box office success of WUS is really a tangible achievement to them.

4.Get back to the grind
I want to get back to making a film all over again. If I had a good script, I would. It's the writing that scares me. I have no concrete ideas. Also, I am quite attracted to the idea of really chilling. It's been a kind of an impediment. I am quite capable of letting my life just pass by. Now I feel that if I'm allowed to have too much fun, I'll let a few more years go by.
