Words mould stories, give rhythm to poetry, can bring the most distorted of ideas to an accord, and influence generations. But it’s a long wait between books and anthologies of our favourite authors. Luckily, their social media accounts carry their thoughts and words. Here are a few you can follow.
Travel with Karuna
Sitting in Kolkata, Karuna Ezra Parikh combines poetry with storytelling covering themes such as family, friendship, migration, and xenophobia. The author of two books, she has also dabbled in screenwriting. In one of her verses, she writes about the writer’s privilege, “Some poems come easy, some take so much work. I remember writing this one and feeling a release, some sense of triumph.”

Author of seven volumes of poetry, with These Are the Words being her latest, Nikita Gill mixes fiction with realism and blurs the lines between concrete ideas such as heroism and vilification. She also explores themes around love and heartbreak: “You’ve turned your heart into a museum of people you’ve loved to keep them alive inside you.” Based in South England, her works combine words with hand-drawn illustrations. She is also a playwright and a TEDx motivational speaker.
