Tributes for the legend have been pouring in from across the world as former and current players heaped praises on Tendulkar.

If Tendulkar’s former captain and opening partner Sourav Ganguly described him as the “greatest cricketer he has ever seen”, then former Australian opener Matthew Hayden called him the “Don Bradman of India”.

To mark the occasion, a life-sized wax figure of the Indian legend was unveiled at the Sydney Cricket Ground last week. The statue will later be displayed at Sydney’s Madame Tussauds wax museum.
