Kolkata Knight Riders last clashed with Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 2012 edition last year on May 27. Winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings elected to bat and made sure they had every chance of becoming champions.
Suresh Raina, Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay contributed significantly to pile up a mammoth 190 runs. In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders needed a special effort and they found an unlikely hero in Manvinder Singh Bisla.
After the fall of Gautam Gambhir’s wicket, he and Jacques Kallis counter attacked and in the end won with two balls to spare and with five wickets in the bag.
