Indian icons' Oz swansong should've been hyped: MacGill

Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are likely to play their last Test match on Australian soil starting today. It's a shame that administrators from both sides haven't done enough to let people know that this is their last chance to watch these three icons in action. Cricket Australia (CA) should be doing more to ensure that these three legends get a fitting send-off. They deserve it.

I have played a lot of cricket. And I can bet that very few players have had the class and temperament that Sachin, Dravid and Laxman do. Cricket will be poorer when they are gone. I don't think cricket will ever be the same again. I have been getting very annoyed with people talking about how they (The Big Three) are only playing for money and all that.

Rahul Dravid

Champion players
That's an insult on everything that is genuine and real. These guys are champion players -- who recognise the battle every single time they go out to bat. In an age of T20 cricket, I can tell you that the game is going to lose a few artists. We will never get them again.

VVS Laxman

I am playing only T20 now. Purely as a cricket spectator, I am obviously supporting Australia. But as a lover of cricket, I would like to see these three legends go out with their heads held high. It's very important for people to recognise the contribution these three have made to cricket, not just Indian cricket.

Stuart MacGill

They have made runs in every country, they have dominated very very good attacks. It's important for people in Australia to recognise this that we may never see batsmen of this caliber from another other country -- for at least a decade or two. We are not going to enjoy cross-batted heaves. We are going to miss the silken on-drives and straight off-drives of these Indian greats.

I think the Adelaide Oval must has fond memories for the Indians. They played so well here in 2003-04. Hopefully, they can recapture that and try and do something special. Three big cheers for batting's three greats. Long Live Sachin, Dravid and Laxman. Australia will miss them. As told to Sai Mohan
