In a landmark diplomatic move, India gifted INS Kirpan, its first active warship to Vietnam. Indian Naval Ship Kirpan was decommissioned from the Indian Navy and handed over to Vietnam People’s Navy on July 23. INS Kirpan has completed 32 years of illustrious service to the nation. The decommissioning and handing over ceremony of INS Kirpan to VPN was presided over by CNS Adm R Hari Kumar.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held bilateral talks with Minister of National Defence of Vietnam General Phan Van Giang on June 19. The bilateral talk focused on furthering the defence cooperation between India and Vietnam. The two also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Notably, General Phan Van Giang is on a two-day visit to India from June 18 to 19.
