A 7.8 magnitude earthquake collapsed a heavily transited bridge in Guayaquil on Saturday killing one.

The death toll in a devastating earthquake that jolted Ecuador has risen to 246 with 2,527 being injured. Ecuador, which has declared a state of emergency in six provinces, has mobilised around 14,000 army and public security personnel to the affected areas.
