Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has announced a series of commitments should the Congress-led alliance come to power. Addressing a gathering, Gandhi pledged to fill all government vacancies and extend the age limit to 40 years. He also promised to regularize daily wage workers, making them permanent and improving their income. Emphasizing inclusivity, Gandhi assured that the government would work to respect and incorporate all voices in Jammu and Kashmir. Highlighting his appreciation for the region`s beauty and people, he expressed a desire for a longer visit. Gandhi reiterated the alliance’s priority of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the BJP for their approach of holding elections before addressing statehood. He vowed that the INDIA alliance would press for statehood, regardless of BJP opposition, ensuring it becomes a reality for the people of J&K.

In Udhampur, rigorous training programs are underway for polling staff to ensure free, fair, and transparent assembly elections, the first since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. To guarantee a peaceful voting environment during J&K Assembly election, enhanced security measures will be implemented. Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpuri, emphasized the deployment of stringent security protocols to foster a calm atmosphere. Polling agents are receiving live demonstrations of voting machines, along with detailed lectures on the paperwork and documentation processes. The elections are scheduled in three phases from September 18 to October 1, with the vote counting slated for October 4. These preparations aim to ensure a smooth electoral process in this pivotal election period.
