Ripun Bora resigned from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), saying that although he admired Mamata Banerjee`s leadership and hoped to fight the BJP in Assam through the party, he realized that the people of Assam view TMC as a regional party from Bengal and do not support it. Bora joined TMC in 2022, expecting it to help intensify the fight against BJP. However, he found that continuing with TMC would not be effective because the party is not accepted by the people of Assam. He felt that staying in TMC would be a waste of time and energy, and thus decided to leave in search of a more effective platform to challenge the BJP.

After the henious Kolkata rape horror that gained nationwide eyeballs, another rape incident took place in Assam. In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by 3 persons in Nagaon’s Dhing area on August 22. The heinous crime took place while the victim was returning home from tuition classes. Meanwhile, Police recovered the body of the prime accused who allegedly escaped from police custody, jumped into a pond and died on August 24. The police narrated the entire incident about how things unfolded and what led to the death of the prime accused of the heinous crime.
