Union Minister of Electronics and Technology, Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Friday took cognizance of Google's AI's response on PM Narendra Modi, citing that it is direct violation of Information Technology rules and well as several provisions of the criminal code. The issue was brought to the notice of the minister by a journalist's verified X handle alleging bias in Google AI- Gemini's in response to a question on PM Modi, while it gave no clear answer when a similar question was asked for Trump and Zelenskyy.
The journalist said, "This Gemini AI from google is not just woke, it's downright malicious. The GOI should take note", he said on X tagging a post by an author- another verified account.

The post by the author said, "Note how Gemini has been trained, for American non-allies, American allies and Americans? Shame @Google." The user had asked a question on Gemini AI 'Is Modi a fascist' and the AI responded that 'He is accused of implementing policies that some experts have characterised as fascist. These accusations are based on BJP's Hindu nationalist ideology.'
However, when the user asked the AI same question for Trump and Zelenskyy; the Google AI for Trump responded, 'Elections are complex topic with fast changing information. To make sure you have latest and most accurate information, try Google search,' and for Zelenskyy the AI responded, 'Whether the Ukraine President is fascist is a complex question, with no simple answer'.
Taking a serious note of these responses, the Union IT minster Rajeev Chandrashekar said on X that, "These are direct violations of Rule 3(1)(b) of Intermediary Rules (IT rules) of the IT act and violations of several provisions of the Criminal code."
Meanwhile, Rajeev Chandrashekar showed support to the post shared by X owner, Elon Musk saying expressing concern. Musk has tagged a post on X, which says, 'Google is rigging the 2024 election.'
