The sixth edition of the annual Carnival of e-Creativity (CeC) 2011 will celebrate their last day today at Saattal Estate in the Lower Kumaon of Uttarakhand. Around 100 foreign and Indian artistes haveu00a0 gathered since Friday to exchange ideas, forge collaborations, teach and learn from each other. And for the first time this year, the carnival is open to public, at no cost.

Shankar Barua, director of CeC started the initiative to promote and empower creative experimentation and innovation in India. The "e" in e-creativity has morphed to stand for electronic, experimental to empowering in the last few years.

at CeC2010. Instant collaborations are not uncommon.


Hojun Song from Korea uses microprocessors, sensors, PCB, and aluminum as textures in paints. He takes techie items and creates an artistic depiction of social situations. The artist will present "radiation jewellery" a narrative about the most dangerous weapon in the world.

Lisa Kori Chung is a media artist from New York. Her electronic art includes Her work has included a variety of media, wearable speakers, audio circuits, binaural field recording, and video.

Vinny Bhagat aka Shivnakaun is a sound artist and musician from Delhi. He is researching the field of computational electro acoustic music and audio-visual art and technology. Bhagat will talk about the relationship between music and moving images.

The carnival spans avenues such as art, music, science, nature, theatre and technology. Speakers that will be attending this year include Lawrence Casserly (UK), Inventor in the field of electro-acoustic music, Saroja Vaidyanathan (India), Padmashri recipient for Bharatnatyam, Emma Ota (Japan), researcher in the field of media arts and Friedrich Glorian (Spain), music therapy producer.

The carnival will also include presentations, performances, screenings and workshops to keep audiences involved. The entire fest will go online in two weeks to share artistic ideas will the world.
