18 students hospitalised for food poisoning

Eighteen students of Mhetre School, which comes under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, were hospitalised on last afternoon after they had khichdi for breakfast.

As the students started feeling giddy and vomited, they were immediately hospitalised at Yashwantrao Chavan Municipal Hospital in Pimpri. Out of the 18 students, six are on saline and were given antibiotic injections, while 12 were under observation.
According to U Jadav, supervisor of the school, some students were ill even before they had the breakfast and others started reacting after seeing these students. However, Dr Pratibha Shawar denied this by saying none of the students showed any signs of illness apart from the fact that they were vomiting.
Dr Vinayak Patil, chief medical officer of the hospital, said that they are conducting imperial therapy on the affected students, and once the reports arrive from Sassoon Hospital, it will be handed over to the police andu00a0 the PCMC Commissioner.
