Excited by exit polls, most of which have predicted a clear majority for the Aam Aadmi Party in the Punjab Assembly elections, the Arvind Kejriwal-led outfit is confident that Thursday’s results will be its perfect gateway to the future. The party had won 20 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly five years ago, a distant second from Congress’s 77 wins.

Who will win the Punjab Elections?
“The citizens of Punjab want to see development, curb the drug menace, crime and corruption which are deep-rooted in the system. The health and education infrastructure is in extremely bad shape in Punjab for decades. But the political parties had been making false promises to them in the last three assembly polls. Even after their win, none of the major political parties and their allies showed a willingness to bring any visible change,” said Garg.
“So, the voters want to get rid of major political parties and vote for AAP. We are very confident that AAP will make a landslide victory in Punjab. After we win the state elections, we will show how the state—which is at present in an extremely bad shape, can be developed because there will be no intervention of the Central government like in Delhi where we have to approach L-G for certain decisions. Since Punjab is a full-fledged state, we will work hard to live up to the expectations of our voters to make it a role model,” he said.

“People of Punjab have seen our development work in Delhi. So, just imagine, if we can perform our best despite multiple political hurdles in the national capital, what we can do in Punjab where the Central government cannot succeed in its plans to derail our development work,” Garg added.
Though the AAP is confident of the win, they will plan for celebration after a few hours of the counting on Thursday. “We never burst crackers before Diwali, though we know when the festival of lights is. After a few hours of the counting, we will surely start our celebration,” said Garg.
