The Amboli police have registered a case of negligence against their supervisor Rajendra Yadav. General secretary of Federation of Western India Cine Employees, Dinesh Chaturvedi, said that the two injured workers are not members of the federation, and therefore were not entitled to compensation.

On December 24, 2010, MiD DAY had reported about the deaths of Vijay Gupta (40) following an accident on the sets of a TV serial, and assistant director Suhail Shah (26), who died after being impaled on a steel rod during a shoot near Varanasi.

Earlier, at the annual function organised by Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdur Union, attended by Union Minister for State for Home, Gurudas Kamat, Dinesh Chaturvedi, film producer Mukesh Bhatt, and several celebrities, a discussion was held to discuss raising the compensation amount to Rs 5 lakh, if a federation member dies in an accident on the sets.

Chaturvedi, said, "Next of kin of workers are paid Rs 1 lakh, and this should be increased to Rs 5 lakh." Kamat also spoke about safety being ignored, and said, "I myself would give Rs 1 lakh as compensation to next of kin of cine workers dying on the sets."
