Message from Interpol in Washington helps Mumbai Police save suicidal man

A suicidal man was found to be searching about `ways to commit suicide` on the internet when the officials at USNCB learned about his suspicious intentions and immediately passed on the information to the Interpol officials in Delhi. In return, they informed the Mumbai Police which swung into action in no time

A well coordinated and timely response by the Interpol officials from the United States of America, New Delhi and Mumbai Police resulted in saving the life of a 25-year-old Mumbai based man.
The police said that the officials of Mumbai Police on Wednesday were successful in saving the life of the man, a tech professional from Jogeshwari after receiving timely information that was initially shared to the Interpol officials in New Delhi by the United States National Central Bureau (USNCB) Interpol in Washington.
According to the police, a suicidal man was found to be searching about 'ways to commit suicide' on the internet when the officials at USNCB learned about his suspicious intentions and immediately passed on the information to the Interpol officials in New Delhi. In return, the officials from New Delhi, in no time informed the Mumbai Police which swung into action without wasting any time and assigned the case to the Mumbai Crime Branch.
The police said, the man, who works for a private firm as an IT engineer had previously attempted to kill self atleast on three to four occasions previously but had been unsuccessful in the act and was trying to search for the ways to commit suicide.

The crime branch officials traced his location to Kurla area and formed a team led by Police Inspector Ajit Gondhdi. The team rescued him before he could take the drastic step, the police added.
After his rescue, the officials called his family members and counselled him. He told the police that he had a very low salary and had taken loans for his further studies and other needs, he had been falling short to pay up the loans and hence he had been depressed, the police said.
"His mother thanked the Mumbai Police for its timely intervention and saving his life," an official said.
