“Mumbai is a city that is constantly working. Brown, for me, represents work culture and the hustle-filled life here,” the 26-year-old says. This colour reflects in his newly launched range of clothes that he says is stitched with the essence of Mumbai. “Think vada pav; the shade of a local train ticket and SoBo’s heritage buildings. These are all important elements of the city, and all are prominently brown,” he adds. The shirt that caught this writer’s eyes is a brown unisex corduroy shirt with white patches sporting a growing plant, which Bhotra says represents the constantly developing city.

The year-old streetwear brand also has other city-inspired apparel, like black apparel for Delhi, and white and green for Bengaluru. The founder, who originally hails from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, adds that of all places in India, he found the city the most accepting when it comes to streetwear. “Mumbai is the hub for streetwear. The speciality of this kind of fashion is that there is no limit to creativity. And if people in the city find your work relatable, irrespective of whether you’re a well established brand, they will buy it. Our brown shirt represents what people call the feeling of Mumbai. And so, it has done very well in the city,” Bhotra beams. They will launch this shirt, alongside other apparel, at Pernia’s Pop Up Shop in Juhu this weekend.
