A popular Bollywood voice today, Kavita Seth is best known for her Sufi renditions. After having performed across 500 venues in the world, the artiste will now be performing along with exceptional musicians from across the country at Anandotsav — A celebration of Life.

"We have been organising Anandotsav annually, for the last four years. It is my way of paying tribute to my late husband, who is the most important reason for my being here," says Seth. "I have been singing since I was a child, but I earned recognition, and my career in music got a boost only after my marriage as, for as long as he was alive, my husband backed me fully and looked after my career.

Countless people sing well, but you need to network, project your work and make commercially viable decisions to be able to take this up as a professions, and my husband did that for me. The day he passed away, I decided that I won't cry on his death anniversary; I will celebrate his life with the music that he loved," recalls Seth.

This time the singer will perform her renditions of legendary poet Mirza Ghalib, including a mix of his popular as well as lesser known works, at the concert. "Every year, I perform Sufi music at the concert, this year I thought let's select one poet and perform his compositions. Mirza Ghalib's 200-year-old poetry is still fresh and remains
relevant in today's times," gushes Seth.

When asked about her favourites among these compositions, she laughs, "That's a tough one. It's like asking a mother which child she loves more. Dil-e-nadaan tujhe hua kya hai and Hazaaron khwaaishein aise ki har kwaaish pe dam nikele are very close to my heart."

My favourites, however, undoubtedly remain my first song, Raat Ki Jogan from the album, Ishqa Ishqa, Genda Phool, Kabira, Ghagra and Phir Le Aya Dil. Luckily they are favourites of the audience too. They love singing along at live shows, and request for these often," the singer admits.
